Bookclub, January 7, Stephanie's house
Hi ladies!
Bookclub is fast approaching! Stephanie is hosting at her house, this Friday, January 7 at 8:00. I was not able to get the book from the library, it was on hold for this entire time. I guess that means it was a good pick, becuase everyone wanted to read it!
I will miss bookclub this month, but sure hope to make it next month! Can you all send an email to Stephanie or reply to this post to let her know if you can make it!
Thanks and have a great time!!!! I will miss you all!!

Stephanie's pick for our January read
Hi girls,
Stephanie's pick for our January 7 bookclub is (drum roll, please)....
The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins.
Here is a little blip about the book:
The Hunger Games (2008) is a young-adult science fiction novel written by Suzanne Collins. It was originally published on September 14, 2008 by Scholastic.[1] It is the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy.[2] It introduces sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where North America once stood. This is where a powerful government working in a central city called the Capitol holds power. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event where the Capitol chooses one boy and one girl from each district to fight to the death. The Hunger Games exist to demonstrate not even children are above the Capitol's power.
Happy Reading!

update, just because it has been awhile
Hi ladies!
Just a few things...as we all know, bookclub is at Eva's this Friday (the book is While I Was Gone), by Sue Miller. I bet it will be so much fun and just gorgeous, with all of Eva's pretty Christmas decorations!
January bookclub is at Stephanie's house. So, Stephanie, can you have your book pick and let everyone know on Friday at Eva's house? We missed the library deadline to get our book reserved, so we will all have to get it on our own.
Bookclub is at Kathie's on February 4. Kathie, can you reserve the title at the library, possibly within the next week? That way, we can get the books the first of January. And...just to try to beat the system, the Geneva Park District gals cannot get the books from Batavia library, so can you email out your pick when you reserve it, so they can run to Geneva Library and get it before Geneva pulls it for our club? Run-on sentence and very confusing, I know!!!
What did everyone think of the book (Eva's pick)? Did everyone get it read? I had a hard time with it, only because I did not find it a page-turner or attention getting. I felt like I kept waiting for something to happen. Is that just me, or did anyone else feel the same way? It was a top pick of Oprah's, so I may just have been in a "mood"! :-)
Hope everyone is well!!!

Hey Girls! So, I chose a book and went in to request it at the library, and found out it is currently too popular for us to get. I decided to try a recommendation from the librarian since I was already there. They are bringing in copies of While I Was Gone by Sue Miller. I've just looked it up on Amazon, and it has decent reviews. My original pick was The Book Thief my Markus Zusak that had been a recommendation Shannon's friend had passed on. It has even better reviews....so maybe we will still be able to read it in the future. I'm just starting Renee's pick, time to go read!

November book club selection
Hi all,
Thanks to Gail for a fantastic bookclub evening last Friday. I must second what Kathie wrote in her email on Saturday...we really do have a wonderful group of women and I always enjoy spending time at bookclub. We are so awesome! haha! :-)
Ok, on to the book selection. As I mentioned on Friday, the book is "A prayer for Owen Meaney", by John Irving. 8 copies are on hold at the library for us to pick up. You will want to reference Bookclubbers of KC, when you pick the book up.
Eva, if you want the library to hold your books for all of us (for your November selection), you will need to go to the library and fill out a short paper with your selection on it. They need 4 or more weeks to get all the books. So, I guess we should all remember to just give them enough time to get the books in, when it is our month to pick. At least 4 weeks.
Happy Reading!!!!!
swagger on! (thanks for the commercial, Christina, that was hilarious)!
